Double Date with Lucas & Catherine

This weekend we had such a fun date! We drove up to Midvale to go on a date with Kevan's good friend Lucas and his wife Catherine. They just got married in May! We had a wonderful time with them making home made pizzas and then pazookie's for dessert. Kevan and Lucas both served two-year missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mendoza, Argentina. It was fun to hear them talk about all the amazing experiences they had and even more amazing people they met. They are such wonderful guys and me and Catherine are lucky to have them! We had a great time just visiting with this fun couple and getting to know them better. We look forward to more date nights in the future!

Me, Kev and the cute Reynolds! Oh, and are delicious home made BBQ Chicken and Chicken Alfredo Pizza.  Mmm!

Catherine and our yummy salad... and pizza. What a delicious dinner.

The cute Mendoza missionaries reunited at last!

Oh, and check in tomorrow because I have some big news! I mean really big news... actually several items of really big news that you won't want to miss! So until tomorrow -

NCLEX Examination

All my studying is finally over. Today I took the NCLEX! I won't officially find out if I passed until Friday night or possibly Monday, but some people say that if you try and sign up to take it again and it doesn't let you, that means you passed! Well I tried to sign up and it wouldn't let me! I hope that means I'm in the clear! Ah, I'll be hoping and praying hard this weekend!

Me and Kevan right before I was driving up to Draper to take the test.

The screen shot that makes me think I've passed... can't wait to find out for real!

I'm just relieved to have it all over with. I can't get a job until I have my license and I have to pass this exam in order to get my license, so kind of important. Ah, I'm dying to know if I passed!

Happy 24th of July!

Or should I say... Happy Pioneer Day! Either way I hope it is a happy day for you! Today we started off our holiday by going to a neighborhood Pioneer Day breakfast with french toast and a whole spread of fruit. Yum! They even had a little program where we learned about the pioneers. If you are not from Utah or just don't pay attention to history books, the pioneers traveled in handcarts from Europe and back east to Utah (best state ever). The traveled in the heat and the snow with their little wagon carrying all their supplies. Often they had to sell most of their belongings to afford the trip out. The amazing part to me is that they did all this to go to the temple. In the temple they were able to be sealed with their families, which meant that after death they could live with their families forever. They had such incredible faith in our Heavenly Father, faith that enabled them to travel across oceans and land to come to the Salt Lake Valley. I look up to my pioneer ancestors and the sacrifices they made for the religion they knew to be true.
After breakfast it was back to the books - yes I'm still studying like a mad woman. I'm planning on taking a little break in a few hours to watch Step Up 2 though, so looking forward to that. Anyway, have a wonderful holiday and let off some fireworks or something!

Me & Kev on our way to the breakfast, love this picture - minus the car, and the gray seat belt across me. Whatever

After the breakfast, oh so happy!

And this is how Kevan really feels about taking pictures.

HAPPY 24TH OF JULY!

First Job Interview... & Zucchini Bread

Today I had my very first job interview ever! I'm hoping to get hired on as a RN at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on the Labor & Delivery Unit. I was kind of nervous, but I actually think it went really well! I won't hear back until the middle to end of next week... but I'll keep you posted!

Kev had just gotten home from football practice... did I mention he plays football for our University? He does. I wanted a picture the day of my first interview ever, and yes I realize my hip is sticking out funny, but it's all we've got and I'm glad we captured this important day in this photo!

That night we celebrated by making zucchini bread with the fresh zucchinis from our garden. We looked up Paula Dean's recipe and sadly, it turned out awful! Kevan claims he is still sick from eating that bread! So I won't be passing on the recipe.
This is before and after... it tasted incredible before, but not so much after. Next time...

Well, wish me luck with getting that job, and finding a new zucchini bread recipe!

You Step Up - I'll Step Up Too!

I am so excited to see this:

Mostly because of this guy:
My adorable brother Jacob who just graduated from high school

When Step Up 3D came out we had a marathon and watched the first two, and then went on a little brother/sister date to see the new movie. So we decided to keep up the tradition this time around and have another Step Up marathon and watch:

                                          this...                      this...                   and this...

to get ready to see the newest movie. There are three movies, so we will watch one each night and for the grand finale go see the new movie. We decided to invite Kevan and my little brother Justin in on our marathon party. I can't wait!

Watch this trailer...

... and then I know you will want to see it too! And you should - it will make you want to get up and dance!

Megan Mac

Today I got to go to my good friend Megan's homecoming. She served an 18 month mission for our church in Warsaw, Poland. Today she spoke in our church meeting to tell us all about the things she learned and the experiences she had. I am so grateful for her example, for her sacrifice and devotion. She dedicated a year and a half of her life to our Heavenly Father to share the gospel with his children and I know that she will be greatly blessed for her sacrifices. I love attending church so much. It is a place where I can go each week to be uplifted, to be spiritually fed. I don't know how I would make it through life without the gospel, but more importantly without my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Megan, thank you for your words today. They truly were uplifting and brought the spirit.

This is a picture of Megan at the airport with her parents the day she arrived in Utah. We are so glad to have you back Megs!

Date Night

Every week me and Kevan always try to go on a date. After another long day of studying I was certainly ready for a break and some time with Kev. After some serious debate we decided on Malawi's, my absolute favorite! I pretty much always pick there, or Guru's and Kev is a good sport and let's me go there quite often! If you ever go then try their malawi capri pizza and chicken satay salad, so good. Their berry dessert pizza is incredible too, but we didn't get one tonight. Kev always goes with the plain cheese pizza and then helps me finish off my malawi capri. After dinner we walked around Riverwoods Mall, it is gorgeous there! It has such a fun atmosphere with live music, lights strung above you, fountains and fancy fire pits. I would say it is definately one of "our" places. Then of course it wouldn't be a true date night without dessert so we hit up Menchie's. Now don't laugh, I used to think it was a weird ice cream place with a weird blow up cartoon
character in front, but then I tried it and realized it is a great frozen yogurt place.
It is always very clean, never too crowded and I like that their toppings are not all mixed up.
You get to squeeze out your own frozen yogurt and then put all your toppings on, tasty tasty!

Driving to our date...

MALAWI'S!

My malawi capri pizza and chicken satay salad.       Sitting on a bench after dinner people watching,
another one of my favorite activities!
The view from our bench, it's absolutely gorgeous at night
when they've got all the lights on!

Menchie's and my babe!

Ha, that was 5 minutes after we got them, and yes mine is on the left
and yes, I got every last little drop I could!

This date night didn't end there though, oh no... on the way home we debated why high school
teams should never cut anybody (so sad, career ruined at 15) and then cuddled up to a movie.
Another successful date... I love date nights with my man!
